ELLE Artwork

Today we received another beautiful present for Elle. Andrea, a friend and one of Ryan's co-workers, gave us this framed collection of photographs that spell out Elle's name. Each picture is a normal item but when photographed a certain way looks like a letter of the alphabet. Isn't it just lovely?

Hello 3rd Trimester...

I'm currently 28 weeks and I have officially made it into my 3rd trimester. I must say that these past few months have really just flown by. I have been very fortunate to feel pretty good throughout this pregnancy and any symptoms I have experienced have been quite mild.

We've had some delays with the nursery set up because we have to wait on our painter but everything is in order and once we get the room painted and wallpapered it should only take us a few days to arrange everything else. I have been organizing things as we receive them. I think Miss Elle already has more clothes than I do (and I haven't even had my baby shower yet) Every time I see my mom she has a box of diapers for me and a few new outfits for the little one. Last week we had lunch with Ryan's mom for her birthday and she had about 10 outfits for us too. We are so thankful for all of the wonderful family that we are blessed with.

I went and registered at Babies"R"Us a few weeks ago with the help of my friend Ande. She has two little ones herself and kindly offered to help guide me through this process. Who knew there was so much stuff out there for such a small person. If you know of any other baby "must-haves" please let me know.

Here is a picture of me at 28 weeks. Pardon the workout attire, this was just before Ryan and I were going for a walk up Euclid. Which I must say is not getting any easier as this baby keeps growing and taking over my lung space.

Special Delivery for Miss Elle

I walk in the house today to find a huge box on the counter. I ask Ryan what is it and he says, "It's for Elle". It was really Elle's first package, addressed to her and everything. When I see that it's from my Aunt Nanette I knew it was not going to be any ordinary present. (this is from the same person who got me USC m&ms with my picture on them when I graduated from PA school)

I open the box and find:
Tons of individually wrapped presents each with it's own special note. Ryan and I open them together one by one. I start to read the first one but then my ΓΌber hormonal emotional self appears and I start to choke up so Ryan takes over and reads the card aloud and I open the gift. We got so many cute things but I thought I'd share some highlights with you.
USC baby stuff of course! First cheerleading outfit and pink onesie, to die for :)
Here were some of the notes that were attached to each package:
I am pretty much due on the USC vs Cal game. It is an unspoken rule that no events are planned on Saturdays during college football season. I'm sure Elle knows not to make her debut during that time or the waiting room might just turn into a tailgating party.
ahhh! This is probably my favorite one. Too bad the new coach Kiffin edition had not come out yet:
Actually this one might be my favorite. Oh, who am I kidding? I love them all

Yes, Auntie loves Elle for sure:
Thanks again Aunty Nan and Uncle Terry! Such a wonderful surprise.

We are so blessed to have so much loving family and friends around supporting us. We are so thankful for all of the gifts we have already received. I think between my mom and Ryan's mom we may already have a full wardrobe. I'll post pictures of those soon!

Baby Books

Once a week, usually Sunday night, Ryan pulls out one of our baby books and reads the next chapter. I received many baby books from family and friends but there is one that Ryan has made his own.

Given to me by my girlfriend Kristin the book Your Pregnancy week by week has detailed descriptions of baby’s developmental milestones each week, tips on nutrition and lifestyle and the ways actions affect baby, helpful hints for the father-to-be and information on how a pregnancy affects a couple and much more. Now while I have read through most of the baby books from start to finish already Ryan only likes to read about each week as it's happening. As he is reading the about the upcoming week he will let me know things like:
"Did you know the baby can open her eyes now?"
"Did you know the baby is 15 inches long?"

he also voices his concerns such as:
"Are you getting enough Iron? I think you need to eat more"
"I think that iced tea has more caffeine than you should have"

It's really sweet how he is already looking out for the baby's well being, even if she has 3 more months until she makes her official debut.

Rockabye Baby!

A few weeks ago Ryan picked up this CD for Elle. I thought it was perfect since Ryan had to give up his Drum room/Man cave for the little one's nursery. This way he can still have a little bit of rock and roll in the midst of a sea of pink, crystals, and bows.

Track List
1. Bohemian Rhapsody from lullaby renditions of Queen
2. Dream On from lullaby renditions of Aerosmith
3. Sweet Child O’ Mine from lullaby renditions of Guns n’ Roses
4. Across the Universe from lullaby renditions of The Beatles
5. I Still Haven’t Found What I am Looking For from lullaby renditions of U2
6. Just Like Heaven from lullaby renditions of The Cure
7. Clocks from lullaby renditions of Coldplay
8. Lucky Star from lullaby renditions of Madonna
9. No Surprises from lullaby renditions of Radiohead
10. Nothing Else Matters from lullaby renditions of Metallica
11. Ruby Tuesday from lullaby renditions of Rolling Stones

12. One Love from lullaby renditions of Bob Marley

25 Week Check-Up

Today we had our 6 month check up today and everything looks great. Right now Elle's about 9 inches long and weighs about 2 pounds. We're guessing she's going to be a 9 pounder since I was about 8lbs and Ryan was over 10lbs so she still has some bulking up to do.

Its around this week that babies have a chance of being viable. It's amazing to think that something still so small has a chance of survival. While we want Elle to take as long as she needs to develop it's reassuring to know we've made it to this point.
